How to use Himalayan salt

You can use it for regular cooking or as a finished salt. It gives an extension of salt to your palate. It is also good for mixing Himalayan salt meat, as it sticks well to the surface and spreads evenly. You can mix sweet and savory and use a pinch in sweets. American food writer and entrepreneur Mark Bitterman has been playing with finishing salts and Himalayan salt blocks for years. In his Salt Block Cooking book, he explains, “Himalayan salt blocks have very little significance and they have virtually no moisture so they can be heated safely or can be extremely extreme cold.” This makes it very versatile. You can crush it on top of your food or even cook it. Bitterman uses salt blocks as a platter to grind, grill, chill, heal, bake and even serve. When food is cooked in these blocks they acquire a subtle salinity that closes them completely.
